Thanks, TED – I really NEEDED this!

A terrific TED Talk from psychologist Gary Winch about the critical importance of practicing “emotional hygiene” – his points about loneliness & isolation hit home BIG TIME!  If when & how I come up with an Rx 4 Care Partners 1st Aid Kit, will be sure to include a “band aid” emblazoned with its web address.  A gentle reminder that emotional self-care is an essential part of our daily fitness routine.  A good go-to view when I feel overwhelmed & need to power through.

We’ll go to the doctor when we feel flu-ish or a nagging pain. So why don’t we see a health professional when we feel emotional pain: guilt, loss, loneliness? Too many of us deal with common psychological-health issues on our own, says Guy Winch. But we don’t have to. He makes a compelling case to practice emotional hygiene — taking care of our emotions, our minds, with the same diligence we take care of our bodies.
